A battery that lasts the whole week

On a single charge the earbuds play music for up to 11 hours, and the case tops them up in between for a total of 44 hours. For most people that means charging via USB-C once a week. If you discover right before leaving that they're empty, ten minutes in the case gives you four hours of playtime again. The LED strip on the case shows you right away how much charge is left when you open it.

Calling without background noise

Each side has three microphones that work together with AI noise cancellation to filter your voice out of the surrounding sound. Even in winds up to 12 m/s, a strong breeze, you stay clear and understandable, so taking calls while cycling or on the platform is no problem. Handy for anyone working with two screens: the Buds 8 connect to two devices at the same time, so you can switch straight from the series on your laptop to an incoming call on your phone.

Light enough to forget

At just 5 grams per earbud, the Buds 8 sit so lightly in your ear that you'll forget they're there after a few minutes, and the fit was designed based on data from real ears. Thanks to their IP54 rating, they can handle sweat and a heavy downpour, so they'll easily survive your workout or a rainy bike ride to the station. With the earbuds inside, the case weighs just 44.5 grams and slips into any coat pocket.

Get more out of your earbuds

After pairing, install the Xiaomi Earbuds app, because that's the only place to adjust noise cancellation and transparency modes, and where you'll find the equalizer. Also give the different sizes of silicone tips a try: the better the earbud seals your ear, the more the noise cancellation blocks out. Switch between noise cancellation and transparency with a long press on the earbud. And if you've lost an earbud somewhere in the house, have it play a sound through the app; outside the case, that works within about ten meters.

Active noise cancellation up to 50 dB

Noise cancellation that adapts

Active noise cancellation goes up to 50 dB deep and tackles sounds up to 4 kHz, from the rumble of the train to the chatter in the office. You don't have to fiddle with it: the Buds 8 automatically pick from three levels based on your surroundings and fine-tune the cancellation per ear to how the buds fit. If you do want to hear what's happening around you, just switch to transparency mode, which has a separate setting that boosts voices for a quick chat or an announcement.

11 mm driver with LHDC

An 11 mm driver with room for detail

Inside sits a dynamic 11 mm driver that delivers a full bass layer without muddying the rest. Via the LHDC codec, the earbuds stream in higher quality than standard Bluetooth, provided your phone supports that codec. In the Xiaomi Earbuds app you can choose from five equalizer modes or fine-tune the sound yourself, like a bit of extra bass for on the go or crisp voices for podcasts.
